The New York State Archives (NYSA) at the Cultural Education Center in Albany holds a diverse collection of state governmental records. Come learn about both familiar and obscure resources that will help you advance your New York research. A demonstration for using the Finding Aids on the NYSA website will be featured to assist researchers in locating records at NYSA that could be pertinent to your family history.

Jane E. Wilcox serves on the NY State Archives Advisory Committee and the New York Genealogical & Biographical Society’s Family History Advisory Committee. She authored the book New York State Archives Records--A Guide: For Family Historians, Biographers, and Historical Research, published in 2024 by the NYG&B. A former NYG&B Record editorial board member, Jane speaks at genealogy societies, conferences, and institutes in North America. She also hosted The Forget-Me-Not Hour podcast. With her company, Forget-Me-Not Ancestry, in Albany, Jane specializes in pre-Civil War NY research. She has a master’s degree in journalism, a bachelor’s degree in history and English literature, as well as elementary school teacher’s certification.
Registration opens November 1st, for members of CDGS. If there is space remaining, non-members can register starting November 10th. Registration closes at 11pm, 2 days prior to the event.
